The founder and investor, Poliklinika Podobnik d.o.o., for gynecology, obstetrics and neurology, has been offering its services since 1996 at Lovranska 8 in Zagreb. With the opening of the Maternity Hospital and Outpatient Clinic Podobnik all of the named services moved to the new premises.

The Maternity Hospital and Outpatient Clinic Podobnik is owned by the Podobnik family. Prof. dr. sc. Mario Podobnik is a gynecology and obstetrics specialist, one of the first sub specialists in fetal medicine in Croatia, sub specialist in human reproduction, and leading expert in ultrasound and prenatal diagnostics, with over 30 years of experience in the field.

The Outpatient Clinic Podobnik continued to develop its already existing departments – gynecology, obstetrics and neurology. It is equipped with the latest in medical and diagnostic tools that make high quality diagnostics possible.

The Maternity is furnished to accommodate all types of deliveries and obstetric surgery. Three delivery rooms are equipped to accommodate several modes of birthing: water birthing, birthing stool, or a birthing table that allows for different positions of delivery. Painless delivery is possible with the administration of an epidural anesthesia. The mother may be accompanied by her partner or other member of the family. The up to date operating room offers the possibility for delivery by Caesarean section with an administration of a spinal or total anesthesia. Immediately after a Caesarean section, the mother is placed into the intensive care unit. After recovery, she is taken into a one bed suite that she shares with her new born. An extra bed is available for the partner or a family member. Every suite has a bathroom, AC, telephone, fridge, LCD TV, DVD, radio, and internet connection.

Women can start following their pregnancy in our Outpatient Clinic at various stages, starting at the very beginning or the latest in week 35. The time allows them to prepare and get familiar with different delivery options. We offer a number of courses and exercises for both future mothers and their partners. These contribute to psychologically and physically better prepared parents.

The gynecology and obstetrics ward of the Hospital performs gynecological surgery (abdominal and vaginal hysterectomy, adnexectomy), surgical procedures in the treatment of incontinence, small pelvic disorders, and minor gynecological procedures (cervical conisation, LETZ conisation, fine needle biopsy, curettage).
